Hi! Welcome to my blog. My name is Miranda and I’m a professional data scientist with 7 years of experience.
At time of writing, I’m still not entirely sure what I want this blog to be “about”, but you can expect it to cover a wide variety of topics related to my interests and professional curiosities.
My background is mathematics, which I studied for both undergrad and grad school (PhD, ABD, unfinished). My area of research was algebraic topology, specifically focused on computational invariants like persistent homology and topological complexity.
My first stop after grad school was a slot manufacturer, where I made all kinds of products for the American and Canadian markets. I specifically did the math behind these games, including both theory and simulation.
Afterwards, I’ve held various stops at a ULCC airline, two separate teams in a FAANG company, one video analytics and one ML/AI platform, and finally a sportsbook, where I lead a small team of awesome data scientists working on trading intelligence.
In my free time, I like to play and study games and do boring normal stuff with my partner(s). I’m also a college football bettor, with a 55% win record over 3-4 years of serious betting guided by analytics and advanced statistical models.
